Security and scam prevention

Looking for housing unfortunately attracts scammers. Easyroom puts protections in place, but your vigilance remains the best defence. This page gathers good reflexes and what to do if there is a problem.
Most common scams
Fake owners or fake agencies offering a property that does not exist or does not belong to them.
Requests for payment before any visit (deposit, first month’s rent, “reservation fee”) by bank transfer, money order or money-transfer services.
Abnormally low prices used as bait, then pressure to pay quickly.
Phishing: links or messages seeking to steal your credentials or banking details.
Good reflexes
Never pay before visiting the property and verifying the identity of the other party.
Stay on the internal messaging system until trust is established; be wary of requests to move quickly to WhatsApp or email.
Beware of prices too good to be true and of contacts “abroad” who cannot arrange a visit.
Never share a password or full banking details; Easyroom will never ask you for them.
What Easyroom does
Automated moderation of listings, internal messaging (contact details hidden by default), detection of scam signals, and a “Report” button on every listing and profile.
Report a problem
Use the “Report this listing” button or write to contact@easyroom.lu. Every report is reviewed and may lead to suspension or deletion of the content and the account concerned.
In the event of a proven scam
Report it to Easyroom, keep the evidence (messages, screenshots, payment references) and file a complaint with the Grand-Ducal Police. In Luxembourg, the BEE SECURE portal (bee-secure.lu) offers advice and a contact point for digital security.
